About Sella

Our Technology

In production, Sella runs on a completely open-source software stack. Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP5, memcached, Solr and nginx make up the core of our platform. We've found open-source technologies to be fantastic: they let us innovate quickly, scale out easily, and don't tie us down to a single vendor.

Our approach to both frontend and backend servers allows us to add capacity by spreading load across clusters of machines. Extensive performance monitoring allows us to keep on top of changes in traffic and adjust accordingly.

Our development environment is varied, with Debian, Ubuntu, Solaris and Mac OS all well represented. Other software we use (and abuse) includes Subversion, Cacti, Puppet, Jenkins, Selenium, NetBeans and xdebug.
